The Promises of God:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore" (Psalm 121:1-8).

One of the promises here is that HE will not sleep - in exchange He promises us sweet sleep! Since God is literally on the job 24/7 - we can confidently cast all our cares upon HIM! He is our keeper! Wow! I don't know about you but I love the thought that I am "kept" by the Almighty God of the universe!

The Promises of God:

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1).

Let's go on a fear free diet!

NO FEAR! The enemy comes at us from so many directions with so many fears we don't even realize it sometimes! But the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY (or the God of angel armies) our very own personal "navy seal" is within us, by our side, all around us, praying for us, fighting for us, already gone and won the gold medal for us - HOW can be afraid of anything the devil throws at us with such a VICTORIOUS SAVIOR!!! Hallelujah!

The Promises of God:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling" (Psalm 91:1, 2, 4, 10).

We like the part about no evil befalling us - so let's make a decision to "live in the presence of the most High" continually - there is no other safe place to live that I know about! It's our choice! It takes some carefulness - anything we might be ashamed of if HIS eyes were to see them or any behavior that would grieve HIM - we need to choose to stop. It is our choice and HE leaves it up to us.

The Promises of God:

He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken" (Psalm 34:20).

Today we have the promise regarding our bones! Actually this verse was written prophetically of Jesus - usually they broke the bones of those crucified on a cross to hasten their death - however, when they came to do that to Him He was already dead and they did not break his bones just as scriptures foretold. However, Jesus said, "according to your faith be it unto you." so go ahead and have faith that your bones too shall be kept whole! :-)

The Promises of God:

1 Samuel 2:9
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

Here is a promise about your feet! Did you know they were covered by God's promises!? Another verse tells us: "how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of them that bring glad tidings!" -- I've never considered my feet "beautiful" but GOD does! And YOURS too! He is mindful even of our feet! This verse from Samuel was spoken by Hannah in her prayer of Thanksgiving for granting her request of a son. May our Thanksgiving ascend today also in expressions of gratefulness and adoration for a God who even cares about our feet!

The Promises of God:

Psalm 127:2
He giveth his beloved sleep.

Proverbs 3:24
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Here are 2 more promises we have been give regarding sweet sleep! How often when we lay our head on the pillow fears of all sorts try to overtake us. Fears regarding life and all it's situations - HE even included that - "thou shalt not be afraid"! Or we wake up with that sense of dread for no apparent reason.... The next time that old enemy liar comes around trying to STEAL, kill and destroy your sleep - quote this promise OUT LOUD and send him running!

Psalm 4:8
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Looking for a cure of insomnia? -- here it is! I have often quoted this verse when sleep tries to evade me. What a thoughtful and caring God we have even mindful that it is possible for us to have restless tossings and turnings that deprive us of sleep! Next time take a HUGE dose of this verse - I WILL both  lay down in PEACE and SLEEP!!

The Promises of God:

Psalm 16:8
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalm 112:7
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

The two thoughts go together. Evil tidings come - but the heart that is steadfastly fixed on the LORD - will not be moved from that "fixed" position! Our eyes so easily lose sight of the eternal and see only what's happening in the moments of today - Today lift up your eyes and ask HIM to help you have that FIXED heart that can see beyond today into the eternal realm of HIS GREATNESS!

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

What a resource! We all want to know that somewhere we can be safe! Here it is the safest place there is! JESUS! I'm sure you've had the same experience as me when in a time of danger or distress all you could do was call on the name of JESUS! It's just as the verse says a "strong tower" where we can run and find safety!

Jesus oh how sweet the name,
Jesus every day the same,
Jesus let all saints proclaim
It's worthy praise forever!

The Promises of God:

Deuteronomy 33:12
The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long.

Wow - what a beautiful picture this is! Makes me think of the verse a chapter before this that says: he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: [So] the LORD alone did lead them...

Are you doubting HIS LOVE? Think of it - like a mother eagle HE watches over like we were HIS young ones. Like the apple of HIS eye! Hovering - overshadowing us! REST in HIS love today! ENJOY HIM!

The Promises of God:

Proverbs 3:7, 8)
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Here again we see there are some pre-requisites to the promise - don't think you "know it all" - "reverence the Lord" - "stop sinning!" A simple recipe for healthy bones! (oh yes and navel too!) :-) So many people today try to separate the pre-requisites! and just hang on to the parts they like - but our GOD is a God of discipline and order - when you meet the pre-requitsites - the promise FOLLOWS! Heaven and earth will pass away - but HIS WORD will never pass away!

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Youth renewed! ? I don't know about you but that sounds pretty good to me! Most days I find myself in need of some renewal! These verses are packed with not only promises to us but also with WHO God is to us on a daily basis! Claim whatever it is you are in need of today!

The Promises of God are like a golden key that will unlock us from any bondage the enemy would hold us in.

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The great allegory by John Bunyan "Pilgrim's Progress" is the story of a Christian man on his way from earth to glory and all the struggles he encounters along the way. One of the struggles is as follows: "Christian and his friend Faithful are walking along the road sharing with one another God's goodness to each of them when the road becomes rough and rocky. They see that not far from where they are walking there is another path that looks smooth and green and grassy. Now they have been given clear instructions on the way they are to go, but completely disregard those instructions. The result was they ended up prisoners in the Castle of Giant Despair! Bound in chains, thinking there was no way out they remained for some days. Finally it dawned on Christian that he had been given the golden key of promise that could unlock those prison doors. He began to have hope and began claiming those promises as he placed the key in the lock sure enough the prison doors swung open. Each time he used the key of promise it produced the same result until once again they were on the outside of that dreadful Castle and back on the right road.

Whatever bondage the devil is trying to keep you in - find God's promise that applies to it - claim it and BELIEVE it and be set free in the name of JESUS!

Proverbs 3:2, 16
Length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Length of days is in her [Wisdom's] right hand.

Proverbs 9:11
By me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

Who does this promise apply to? Those who TRUST in God with their whole heart and soul and strength. Always we have a choice - let's choose today to place ALL our TRUST in HIM!

The Promises of God:

Matthew 6:26,30,31,32

I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things".

GOD is our PROVIDER! Since we live in a country that is bountiful and live like kings and queens in comparison to the rest of the world - it is hard for us to understand and see God as our PROVIDER! However, that doesn't change the truth - as James says, EVERY good and perfect gift comes from GOD! Hebrews tells us HE upholds ALL things - so basically HE IS THE PROVIDER! (not us!) :-) It's HIS promise not our wishful thinking! So rest in HIS PROVISION for today! (and every day)

"I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread"

Psalm 147:14
"He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat"

Again, we hear the promise of God's povision for our daily needs. Notice the extravagance! "Abundantly bless" & "fill you with the finest" - we're not getting "scraps" from our Father's table but the finest provisions! What is your need today? Ever mindful of HIS covenant. Isn't THAT refreshing!? Isn't it wearisome to have promises made to you and never see their fulfillment! Promises give us hope and something to look forward to - but often the human promiser FORGETS the promise! NOT SO with JEHOVAH!! "He will EVER be mindful of his covenant!" I know one of the enemy's big traps is to make us think we are forgotten by God that HE is not mindful! Liar once again! Be comforted in the knowledge today that HE IS MINDFUL of His blood covenant with YOU and you are not forgotten! Hallelujah!

"Trust in the Lord" we read it so quickly - however, I've found it takes a life time of learning and then some before we really TRUST IN THE LORD! :-) It is so easy to jump to all the "good stuff" and skip over the important stuff. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Here is another incentive given for us so SEEK the Lord. The "these things" are our every day needs. Matter of fact, it goes on to say don't worry about the day to day stuff - stay focused on seeking ME! What a great reminder - somehow the day to day overtakes us and gains all of our energy and focus so easily - I find I need to be reminded of this over and over.

A promise of the utmost CARE! If you pay attention to the amount of care a good shepherd must provide for natural sheep, you will be totally convinced of GOD's perpetual tender, loving care! No matter what dangers may lurk about - the Shepherd finds a way to prepare safe pasture and protection! Not to mention continual maintenance (the oil) :-)

1 Corinthians 3:21,22
All things are yours; whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours.

ALL THINGS! A GOD who will not withhold His only Son from us - how could we even think that He will withhold the things that we are in need of as we live in right standing with HIM? I know some of you are thinking it doesn't work for you - clearly it is not just our every "wish list" item - but rather what is for HIS glory and kingdom's sake - not always on our time table but rather on HIS! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I really like that word SURELY! It leaves no room for "maybe" "if" "could be" etc. That's what's neat about GOD - although he completely identifies with us having come down and enduring being human - HE is totally unlike us in HIS certainty and unfailing goodness!

Someone once said to me that HIS goodness and mercy were chasing me down the street all day long - I like that and want them to catch up with me and fill me up!

Proverbs 21:21
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

Proverbs 10:6,24,28
Blessings are upon the head of the just. The desire of the righteous shall be granted. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness.

Proverbs 11:18,19,28
To him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. Righteousness tendeth to life. The righteous shall flourish as a branch.
Proverbs 3:32

Psalm 58:11
Verily there is a reward for the righteous.

Psalm 5:12
"Thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield"

REWARDS - ? FAVOR - ? Sounds good! Notice the favor and rewards are for the RIGHTEOUS - those in RIGHT standing with God - he has no favorites and no step children! WE are SONS and DAUGHTERS! We are inheritors of all HIS promises! The shield the verse is referring to is one that encircled the body offering full protection! Hallelujah!

The Promises of God

Ecclesiastes 8:12
Surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him.

Isaiah 3:10
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

It shall be well,... remember the woman whose son died - ? Elisha sent his servant to ask her what was wrong and she said in faith "It is well" - she later "ate the fruit" of her faith! What we speak today creates our tomorrow.

Actually her son (given through Elisha's promise) lay dead in her house. But she had insistent faith that said "It is well" - Elisha came and raised the boy back to life - Let us cling to God's word as this Shunamite woman did. The enemy makes it seem easier to give up and quit - ..... we shall eat the fruit of our doings! Let's DO FAITH!

The Promises of God:

Psalm 84:11
"The LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly".

Claiming promises has the pre-requisite of relationship. I cannot go to your bank and claim money from your account. However, I can go to my bank where I have established a relationship in the form of an account to draw out money. So with God - we must be in relationship with Him in order to claim His promises. Notice that there is a condition in this promise "them that walk uprightly" that just means those who walk in "right relationship" with HIM!

Today - walk in right relationship with HIM and see how HE upholds HIS end of the deal!

The Promises of God

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

1 Samuel 15:29
The Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

Hebrews 6:18
It is impossible for God to lie.

In beginning to look at the promises of God we must establish the person extending the promise has the integrity and ability to come through with the promise! Look at the above verses! What validation! Therefore if we KNOW that God cannot lie and believe that HE is the TRUTH - we have every reason to trust that HE will make good whatever HE has promised!

The Promises of God:

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

The New Year stretches out before us fresh with hope and renewal. As we embark on yet another year, we will consider the PROMISES made to us from heaven. Man will disappoint us, but God's promises we can bank on. God is not a politician - making big promises HE cannot keep or will not keep. Sometimes we misunderstand what is actually promised - so that is why we will take a good look at HIS promises together. What a year it will be if we will take His promises at face value, believe them and receive them!

Happy New Year!
