The Promises of God:

"Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16).

This is a sort of backhanded promise :-) If we are struggling with our old nature - lusting after earthly things instead of spiritual and heavenly things - it tells us to "WALK IN THE SPIRIT" - Another benefit of living AFTER the cross! The Holy Spirit was outpoured into the hearts of believers to empower them to walk in a God-like manner! It's like a secret diet pill that promises to make you thinner - only this is way better - and it REALLY WORKS! BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT of God and it is like the "secret ingredient" that makes life flow - or like the gasoline in your car - no gas - you're grounded!  No Holy Spirit - You're STUCK! Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you today to overflowing!

The Promises of God:

"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace" (Romans 6:6, 14).

Sin does NOT have DOMINION over us! Do you get that?! We are so blessed to live after the CROSS - before the CROSS - SIN had dominion! Jesus death and resurrection gave US the dominion over sin and the devil! Are you being attacked and tempted today? RISE UP O man or woman of God and RESIST that evil one - he will FLEE! YOU have been given dominion! NO weapon formed against you can prosper! IN HIS NAME go forth conquering and to conquer!

The Promises of God:

"Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20).

What a promise! No need for 100's or 1000's of believers before God shows up! Some speakers won't come unless a certain size audience is guaranteed - not so with God - 2 or 3 is enough for HIM!! HALLELUJAH! What a Saviour!

The Promises of God:

"With joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation" (Isaiah 12:3).

Here we have a promise of JOY in drawing water from the well of salvation - It gives us the idea that salvation is an ongoing experience that keeps our joy level overflowing - Peter refers to it as - "joy unspeakable and full of glory" - Are you feeling DRY - or maybe even questioning your salvation? Go take a drink at the well of full salvation that NEVER runs dry!

The Promises of God:

"Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. The LORD will give grace and glory" (Psalm 84:4, 11).

The Psalmist here sees the value and blessing of remaining close to the house of the Lord - Our world has changed so much that the value of staying close to God's house is no longer viewed as desirable - The blessings we reap from keeping connected to HIS house are immeasurable! Let's now allow the "world's" view to influence our behavior! The Psalm ends with the promise that God will give us "grace and glory" as we walk uprightly! It takes grace and glory to stay connected - but it is promised! :-)

"Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted" (Psalm 89:15, 16).

There are actually promises attached to making a "JOYFUL SOUND" :-) Joy will fill our own hearts and lives and HIS righteousness will be exalted! Sounds like what we are aiming for! Don't wait until you take music lessons to make that JOYFUL SOUND! :-)

The Promises of God:

"Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God" (Psalm 92:13).

Here is incentive to keep ourselves planted in the house of the LORD! We live in a world that draws and pulls us AWAY from the house of the LORD - David had a passion for being in the place where God's presence was - let it be true of us as well - when we are in love with HIM - a team of wild horses cannot keep us from the house of the Lord!

The Promises of God:

"To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips" (Psalm 63:2-5).

This promise takes on new meaning if you or a loved one has ever experienced someone donating their bone marrow to another so that he may have health - wow! God is way ahead of us! :-) Whatever your need today - know that God has the supply and prepared for your need way before you even knew you had a need! Hallelujah!

The Promises of God:

"They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light" (Psalm 36:8, 9).

Yet another promise of satisfaction - notice here it says "abundantly" satisfied! Not just barely satisfied - Our enemy is so good at making us think that if we trust ourselves completely to HIS care we will come to ruin and be miserable! Let's recognize that one for what it is and cast ourselves in reckless abandon upon our ALL LOVING - ALL WISE - ALL KNOWING - ALL COMPASSIONATE - heavenly Father - then watch the "abundance" factor increase!

The Promises of God:

"Their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD" (Jeremiah 31:12, 14).

Notice today the "they shall not sorrow any more at all!" - Seems like a stretch when we are sorrowful - and although our sorrow may not disappear overnight - "weeping may endure for the night - but JOY comes in the morning" - eventually as we allow HIM into our sorrowing hearts HE replaces the sorrow with JOY! So if you find yourself in broken grieving place invite HIM into the brokenness and HE will heal and mend you until you are not only whole again but full of JOY.

Satisfied! A saturation point - is that where you are? God promises that HE will satisfy us HIMSELF - We live in a world that bombards us with the idea that if we drove a more expensive car or lived in a bigger house or wore designer clothes or purchase the latest ring tones - then we will be satisfied - ever notice those "things' do not satisfy anyone? They only create more desire for bigger and better and more up-to-date stuff! Here our God has provided FULL complete satisfaction - found only in and through HIM - feeling dissatisfied? Spend some time with HIM and allow Him to satisfy the deepest longings of your being! HE is enough!

The Promises of God:

"I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water" (Isaiah 41:18).

Thirsty? Here's the supply - When we are in a "dry" place - here is a promise for refreshment from heaven. Our perception may be that we are in a "dry" place when in reality we are surrounded by living fountains of water - Jesus said that whoever was thirsty should come to Him to drink and that out of our innermost being would flow rivers of LIVING WATER! If you're thirsty - go take a drink from a well that never runs dry!

The Promises of God:

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" (James 1:5).

Notice it does not mention wishing or whining - but rather - direct asking resulting in direct receiving! No middle man - no God getting tired of hearing our requests - but an extravagant generous God willing and wanting to share HIS Divine wisdom and understanding with anyone who will take the time to ask Him for it! Hallelujah!

The Promises of God:

"Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left" (Isaiah 30:21).

"I will direct their work in truth" (Isaiah 61:8).

"Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel" (Psalm 73:24).

"And the LORD shall guide thee continually" (Isaiah 58:11).

What promises we have here of God's direction and guidance! There are so many situations in life that we come up against that we wish someone had written a guide book for - Well here is a built in guide book - if we'll take the time to listen for HIS voice!

The Promises of God:

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye" (Psalm 32:8).

Our God is so interested in our daily life that He is willing to guide us with His eye. In order for someone to guide us with their eyes, we need to be in close proximity to them. In other words we need to be close enough to see His eyes. We have all seen a parent guide their child with a look that clearly conveys warning - the child still has the choice to heed that warning or not. Let us live in such close relationship with our Lord that He will be able to guide us with His eyes!

"The LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous" (Proverbs 2:6, 7).

What a promise! wisdom-knowledge-understanding all wrapped up together! Since it is a promise - if we are lacking any of these - guess where the lack is? - yup - with us! no lack on God's end! James tells us that if we lack wisdom we should ASK because God gives it out liberally and does not get tired of us asking for it - we get tired of asking and waiting to receive it!

The Promises of God:

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).

Although we walk in the midst of darkness we still walk in the LIGHT - because JESUS is the LIGHT! Think of how we are attracted to the light - how many great speeches include references to lighting a candle or points of light - the Olympics ignite a torch to begin the games - there is no other light that compares to the "Light of the World" - JESUS! When we feel the darkness pressing in around us - let's remember this promise and allow HIM to shine in us and through us!

Here is a promise that even those who cannot hear or see naturally speaking will be able to hear and see the gospel! Its meaning includes us Gentiles who were altogether "out of the way" so to speak! Thank God His promises are all inclusive - no one is left out!

It's getting better and better here: - What knowledge could be more desirable than this?!!!! - Let us take time to meet with our Savior, gazing into His glorious face - we are changed from one degree of glory to the next! This kind of firsthand knowledge of God brings a confidence to our hearts that all the head learning never will!

The Promises of God:

"He will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem" (Isaiah 2:3).

Another promise in regards to understanding and learning! We have all had a good teacher at some time in our lives that is unforgettable! Here we are given the BEST teacher of all - are you in need of direction - instruction - understanding? ASK away - HE will teach us of His ways - Jesus told His followers - when the Holy Spirit was given HE would teach us all we needed to know. Again a superb resource that sometimes we do not utilize except as a last resort! Let's get in the habit of relying on this wonderful resource!

Whew! Let's tap into that one a little more!

Another promise of the new heart - a good heart - that is able to walk in HIS ways because of the heart transplant that takes places at salvation! Sometimes we wonder how we can please HIM and walk in HIS ways - this is how - with a new heart it is not difficult we the "want to" placed within us that makes it easy to walk in His ways. Don't be afraid - walk forward knowing with that new and good heart you will know when you step out of the way - your own heart will tell you.

Here we have the promise of a "NEW HEART" - and the removal of our old stony heart! Before the cross they did not experience this - only looked forward to it! WE on the other hand can and have experienced this. Christ dwelling in our hearts - giving us a new heart - that means that we have a GOOD heart! It is nothing of our own doing or working up to - it is ALL given to us! Hallelujah what a thought - Jesus full salvation wrought! Live in that victory today!

The Promises of God:

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power" (Psalm 110:3).

Here again we have the promise of being made willing - God is always longing to show forth His glory and power through our lives but it does require our willingness! The best example of this kind of willingness is Mary - Jesus mother - when the angel came to her announcing that she was highly favored and would bear a child who would be the Son of God - she easily could have drawn back from such an assignment - she was not yet married - she was very young - it cost her embarrassment and misunderstanding - yet her response was one of absolute willingness - "behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to your word." May our hearts and lives respond with that kind of willingness to God's desires - today and every day!

The Promises of God:

And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live" (Deuteronomy 30:6).

Another promise where God promises to make a heart change for us that gives us the "will" and capacity to do what on our own will and power we could never do. At first thought it seems like we should be able to handle this part of it - "love the Lord with all your heart..." after all He's done for us it seems like that should not be a problem. However, we see as we go along that unless HE comes and enables us to love Him like that our love fades and turns to other things. What love that goes beyond our limitations and enables us! Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Today is the National Day of Prayer - so take a few moments to lift up our government and its leaders as well as all the churches across our land. Pray for revival fires to catch from coast to coast! Prayer changes things!

A promise for change - another reminder that we are not expected to figure out how to change ourselves - nor can we - it is only by spending time gazing at HIS beauty that we are changed and made more like HIM - and HE does it! However it is up to us to take the time to gaze at HIM through spending time in HIS word and time in worship. May we make time for HIM today no matter how many other things seem to be demanding our attention!

The Promises of God

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" Philippians
4:13

Strength! How often we come to the end of our own strength! Here is a resource that never runs dry! Especially when we know we have used up our own strength - God steps in and gives us HIS supply as needed.

Hallelujah what a Savior!

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

"This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people" (Jeremiah 31:33).

Today let's ponder that God owns us! I mean seriously, all the evil and trouble we get into even when we are believers, it is truly astonishing and beyond our comprehension that He still adopts us into His family and calls us sons and daughters! We have given Him plenty of reasons to disown us and cast us out yet He remains faithful and His love never ceases towards us! Such extravagant and amazing LOVE, MERCY and GRACE! Let that encourage your heart today!

Here's the secret to being able to live the life Christ purchased for us on Calvary- HE actually comes and writes the will power in our hearts - Hallelujah! what a relief - we cannot work it up or change ourselves - We have a God that not only tells us how to walk but then He also empowers us to take that walk - so if you're coming up short today - remember that He is the one that works in us both to WILL and to DO His good pleasure!
